Shillong: In an operation led by the North Garo Hills District Police, a stolen motorcycle, which had been reported missing from the Matia Police Station in Goalpara, was recovered on Saturday.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of several individuals connected to the theft.
Acting on credible intelligence, a joint operation was launched by IC Dainadubi OP in collaboration with Assam Police.
The operation led to the recovery of two motorcycles—one, a Pulsar motorcycle with registration number AS-18 K 3422, was detained at the Wageasi OGC, while another motorcycle, AS 01 FF 1309, was found at Gairong Bazaar.
As a result of the investigation, five individuals were taken into custody for their involvement.
The stolen motorcycles were reportedly intended to be transported to Rongara, with the final destination being Bangladesh.
The detained individuals are Rockystar M Sangma and Sanstar A Sangma, both from Bagmara, Dabigiri; Fozirul Haque from Sidabari, Goalpara; Rofiqul Ali (also known as Nabar Ali), a 27-year-old from Nayapara (Digpara), PS – Matia; and 28-year-old Rakibul Islam from Nagarbera (Paharpara), PS – Nagarbera, Kamrup district.

All five individuals have been handed over to the Officer-in-Charge of Matia Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
