Guwahati: Aaranyak, a leading biodiversity conservation organization, recently guided a team of marginalized community members, including twenty-four farmers from Assam’s Udalguri district, on a visit to Daffodil Nursery in Jagiroad to learn about sustainable livelihood options.
The nursery, managed by renowned entrepreneur and resource person Dr Dhrubajyoti Sharma, is one of Assam’s leading nurseries known for its expertise in scientific plant propagation and sustainable nursery management.
Dr Sharma conducted an in-depth session on nursery raising, covering plant selection, soil preparation, grafting techniques, and integrated pest management.
He emphasized the importance of homestead gardens for food security, income generation, and biodiversity conservation.
The farmers’ active participation in discussions provided them with practical knowledge for improving their nurseries and gardens.
The event was organized under the guidance of Jayanta Kumar Pathak, Senior Manager in Aaranyak’s Environment Education and Capacity Building Division (EECBD), whose insights and leadership greatly contributed to the learning experience of the farmers.
Dipankar Haloi, a Project Officer in EECBD, also played a crucial role in facilitating and ensuring the smooth execution of the visit.
