Imphal: The 2nd North East India Film Festival (NEIFF) will be held in 4 venues in Manipur’s Imphal and Kakching district from February 12 to 16.
The films will be screened at Tanthapolis Cinema, Lamphel from February 12 to 14, and at auditoriums of the Library and Information Centre (LIC), Kakching, and Kakching Dramatic Union on February 15 and 16.
The festival is being organized by THOUNA, Manipur in association with Film Forum Manipur and the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), under the sponsorship of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and the National Film Development Corporation.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla will inaugurate the festival at the City Convention Centre in Imphal East on February 12, followed by the screening of the film ‘Mareibak Ningba Heerachandra’.
Three Assamese movies are among ten films (8 feature and 2 non-feature films) that will be screened in the competition sections.
Yengkhom Nilachandra, chairman of 2nd NEIFF organizing committee, said that the 10 films (eight feature and two non-feature films) were selected by the jury after examining all the nominations.
The films shortlisted for the competition section are Amateurs (Assamese), Baghjan (Assamese Moran), Laangoi (Manipuri), Lang-dai Ama (Manipuri), Oi- tharei (Manipuri), Sunita (Manipuri), Oneness (Mani-puri) and Una Una (Manipuri) in the feature film category and Legacy of 4 Generations (Manipuri) and Where is My Home (Assamese) in the non-feature film category.
In the non-competition groups, three films – Khomlang Laman, Langdai Ama, and Taru Tarubi will be screened at Tanthapolis on the first day of the festival.

Apart from the selected films, some other entries which have missed the selection with a few points will also be screened.
Nilachandra said that there will be master classes on February 13 and 14 in Imphal, and an open forum on marketing and distribution on February 16 at Kakching.
