Tawang: In a remarkable demonstration of civil-military synergy, the troops of Gajraj Corps of the Indian Army on Friday swiftly responded to an SOS call from the Tawang administration to combat a massive wildfire at Sakgyur village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang.
Two fire-fighting columns, led by dedicated officers, were immediately mobilized to control the fire.
A wildfire erupted on Friday morning and engulfed the area around the Tawang Chu River in Tawang district.
The fire quickly spread to other areas, posing a threat to Sakgyur and nearby villages.
Working in close coordination with the state administration, the teams successfully contained the fire, thereby protecting precious lives and property.
This prompt and effective response underscores the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to national security and nation-building.
The Indian Army stands ready to support the nation in times of need, showcasing the highest level of collaboration and dedication to safeguarding the people and the environment.
The residents and police also extended support and extinguished the blaze near the residential pockets and villages. No loss of life or property damage was reported.
While the flames near villages have been doused, the blaze continues to burn the dense jungle. It is difficult to reach the area due to steep mountains and challenging terrain.

However, the authorities are on high alert to prevent any further spread of the fire.
