Agartala: Tripura will showcase its rich cultural heritage, including the iconic Kharchi Puja, by participating in the prestigious Republic Day tableau parade in New Delhi.
This event will bring to the national stage the unique rituals and traditions associated with the worship of Tripura’s 14 royal deities.
The state’s tableau will be included among the 26 displays featured in this year’s parade, offering a valuable opportunity for both state and central government departments to showcase India’s rich and varied cultural tapestry.
Tripura’s tableau will be displayed as the 19th in the sequence.
This year, Tripura’s tableau is centered around the theme of “Cultural Diversity of India,” with a particular emphasis on Kharchi Puja. It strives to portray the state’s distinctive amalgamation of tradition and modernity.
Tripura’s tableau will showcase Kharchi Puja, highlighting the rituals associated with the worship of 14 royal deities and their significance.
The tableau will focus on three key aspects. Firstly, it will demonstrate a blend of tradition and modernity.
This will be evident through the incorporation of bamboo designs and frames, the application of technology, and models adorned in traditional attire, all symbolizing progress.
Secondly, the 14 deities will be presented through intricate bamboo and cane craftsmanship.
Thirdly, it will also feature the worship of Ha-Buma (earth mother) and cultural presentations.

The tableau will feature a priest performing rituals in traditional attire. At the same time ancient spirituality of Tripura will find expression in the tableau.
