Guwahati: The Government of Assam, in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha Assam, distributed Rs. 5 lakh to the families of 11 deceased contractual teachers.
The cheques were handed over to the families at the Conference Hall of the State Mission Office, Samagra Shiksha, Assam, on Tuesday.
The event was attended by Education Minister of Assam, Dr. Ranoj Pegu as the chief guest.
He was joined by Dr. Om Prakash, Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha Assam, and Sanjoy Dutta, ACS, Executive Director of Samagra Shiksha Assam, along with media representatives.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting the families of teachers who dedicated their lives to educating the children of Assam.
The financial aid is a gesture of acknowledgment for the invaluable contributions these teachers made to the education sector.

The following families received financial assistance:
Sukriti Rani Das, mother of Pijush Kr. Das, an Assistant Teacher from Cachar.
Protima Changmai, wife of Bhabani Borgohain, an Assistant Teacher from Nagaon.
Geeta Sutradhar, mother of Pankaj Dhar, an Assistant Teacher from Hailakandi.
Sabitri Das, wife of Pradip Das, an Assistant Teacher from Dhubri.
Saleha Khatun, wife of Anowar Uddin Ahmed, an Assistant Teacher from Nagaon.
Sangeeta Gohain, wife of Kankan Saikia, an Assistant Teacher from Nagaon.
Banani Sharma, wife of Pushpak Sharma, an Assistant Teacher from Sribhumi.
Banti Gogoi, wife of Milan Gogoi, an Assistant Teacher from Dhemaji.
Indrani Hazarika, wife of Dudu Moni Das, an Assistant Teacher from Nagaon.
Shanti Munda, wife of Kabiraj Munda, an Assistant Teacher from Sonitpur.
Golapi Gogoi, mother of Jayanta Gogoi, an Assistant Teacher from Dhubri.
Each of these families received a cheque for Rs. 5 lakh as part of the support extended by the state government to honour the memory and contribution of these educators.
