Guwahati: A woman travelling on the Rani Kamlapati Express from Agartala to Barauni unexpectedly went into labour and successfully gave birth at the Guwahati railway station.
The passenger was assisted by railway doctors and Railway Protection Force (RPF) women personnel, an official reported on Tuesday.
According to Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) spokesperson Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the woman suddenly went into labour while aboard the train.
Upon receiving the news, railway officials quickly coordinated with her family, advising them to disembark at Guwahati railway station to ensure timely medical assistance.

As soon as the train arrived at Guwahati, a team of railway doctors, supported by RPF women personnel, acted swiftly to assist the woman through labour and facilitate a safe delivery on Platform number 4.
Following the successful birth, the mother, along with her newborn and husband, were transported to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in an ambulance for further medical care.
