Sonapur: The 1st Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Sonapur, in association with the Sandiksha family, celebrated Magh Bihu, also known as Bhogali Bihu, with the elderly residents of the Sonapur Government Old Age Home in Assam.
The event marked the end of the harvest season, a time traditionally associated with family gatherings, feasts, and cultural festivities.
The celebration aimed to bring joy and warmth to the elderly community during the festival.
Under the leadership of Sunil Kaushik, Commandant of 1st Battalion SSB Sonapur, the Sandiksha family organised the event to ensure the elderly did not feel isolated on this special occasion.

The programme included traditional Bihu songs and cultural performances that highlighted the region’s vibrant cultural heritage.
The event concluded with a festive meal, and essential items were distributed to the elderly residents, donated by the family members and personnel of the 1st Battalion SSB Sonapur.
The initiative received appreciation from the residents, who expressed their gratitude for the thoughtful gesture.
