Imphal: The Indian Army displayed prompt action and unwavering commitment to saving lives by rescuing eight civilians who were injured in a road accident in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district.
The incident occurred near Khunku Naga village in the Leimakhong area late on Monday night, according to a defence statement released on Wednesday.
The accident involved a truck carrying eight passengers that reportedly lost control and plunged into a deep gorge near the village.
The Indian Army was alerted to the situation when the chief of Henjang village informed them about the mishap.
Responding without delay, the army swiftly mobilized a rescue team to the site of the accident.
Upon reaching the accident location, the team found the injured passengers trapped and immediately initiated the rescue operation under challenging conditions. Demonstrating exemplary coordination and efficiency, the rescue team extricated the victims from the wreckage and ensured their safe evacuation.
The injured were promptly transported to a nearby military hospital, where army medical personnel provided them with first-aid and trauma care.

The medical team worked diligently to stabilise the injured civilians and address their immediate health concerns.
