AGARTALA: The Border Security Force (BSF) has further strengthened its efforts along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Northeast India, intensifying operations to combat cross-border smuggling.
On December 30, BSF personnel in Tripura successfully thwarted several attempts to smuggle goods into Bangladesh.
During the operation, the BSF seized contraband items, including firecrackers and sugar, with a total value of Rs. 8,04,523.
These goods were intended for illegal export across the border.
In addition to the contraband, the BSF also rescued cattle being trafficked through the region, showcasing their commitment to curbing both smuggling and animal trafficking.
This operation highlights the BSF’s ongoing vigilance and effectiveness in securing India’s borders and maintaining national security.
The force has been actively ramping up efforts to prevent illegal activities such as smuggling and human trafficking along the sensitive border regions.

Earlier in December, a similar operation by BSF personnel in Meghalaya led to the seizure of contraband goods worth Rs. 31.13 lakh, including cattle, apples, and other illegal items, all destined for Bangladesh.
Acting on reliable intelligence, the BSF in Meghalaya, in coordination with local police, launched a targeted search operation near the international border.
The operation uncovered a large group of cattle, tied to trees and scattered across a forested area.
The joint team swiftly recovered the animals, preventing them from being trafficked across the border.
These successful operations underscore the BSF’s continued dedication to combatting smuggling and trafficking in Northeast India.
By collaborating closely with local law enforcement, the BSF is bolstering border security, disrupting illegal networks, and safeguarding the interests of local communities.
