Agartala: Tripura has bagged seven National Panchayat Awards, a testament to the state’s commitment to good governance and a well-functioning Panchayat-Raj system.
“A proud moment for Tripura! The State has secured seven National Panchayat Awards, scripting history. This significant achievement reflects our commitment to delivering good governance,” Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The awards will be presented at the National Panchayat Award Ceremony on December 11 in New Delhi.
A delegation led by Sandeep R Rathode, Secretary, Rural Development (Panchayat) department, will represent the state government at the event.
The primary objective of the award is to assess the performance of Panchayats in the attainment of SDGs, promote competitive spirit among them and catalyze the process of LSDGs through Panchayati Raj Institutions for attaining LSDGs by 2030.
Tripura’s Gomati district has been ranked the best district panchayat and Amarpur RD block has been ranked the second best block panchayat under the Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar.
Gomati district will get Rs 5 crore and Amarpur RD block another Rs 1.75 crore as prize money for winning the award.
Manubunkul Village Committee under Rupaicherri block has been adjudged the best women-friendly panchayat under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikash Puraskar.
Betchara Gram Panchayat in Kumarghat block and Rajkang Village Committee under Amarpur RD Block secured the third position in the ‘Poverty Free and Enhanced Livelihoods’ and ‘Child-Friendly Panchayat’ categories of the Panchayat awards, respectively.

The Thakchahra Gram Panchayat under Amarpur RD Block bagged the second position in the Carbon Neutral Panchayat category under the Gram Urja Swaraj Vishesh Panchayat Puraskar.
The Debbari Gram Panchayat in Amarpur block got the third position in the ‘Water Sufficient Village’ category under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar.
