Aizawl: Mizoram is all set to host a six-day ‘International Paragliding Accuracy Championship & Air Sport Festival’ at Bawngchawm in Serchhip district with a host of thrilling activities.
Organized by the Mizoram Tourism Department, the event will be held from December 9 -14.
A total of 79 pilots from 14 countries have already registered with the Fédération Internationale Aéronautique (FAI), while 8 participants have arrived in Serchhip.
The festival will feature thrilling activities such as paragliding tandem flights for the public, hot air balloon rides, and a concert on December 14.
Tandem paragliding is an accessible sport that can be done by people of almost any age, as long as they can walk or jog a short distance.
Over 15 stalls, offering delicious food, exquisite handloom products, and fresh, locally sourced produce will be on display during the festival.
Mega fish angling event, “Nghakuai Chiah Runpui” will be held at Zawlpui, near the designated landing site for paragliders.
Serchhip District Deputy Commissioner Paul L Khuma will grace the occasion as the chief guest. The closing ceremony of the festival will be graced by Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma on December 14.

Serchhip DC, Pu Paul L. Khuma acknowledged the support of local community and NGO leaders and assured that the event would be a resounding success.
The state has previously hosted a series of paragliding events, including international competitions, to promote tourism and nurture young talents in the sport.
