Agartala: The Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) has set a target of installing solar micro-grids in 274 villages, prioritizing areas where traditional power sources are economically and logistically difficult for both consumers and the state electricity corporation.
Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday stated that as part of the Tripura Energy Vision 2030 Roadmap, the government aims to generate at least 135 MW of solar energy by next year to address the increasing demand for clean and non-conventional power sources in the state.
In a significant step towards renewable energy, the state government has already signed an agreement with NTPC to set up a 130 MW floating solar power plant on Dombur Lake, a major natural water body located in Dhalai district.
During a recent meeting with the Zilla Sabhadhipati of all eight districts to draw the road map for the next financial year, Nath reviewed the ongoing projects under TREDA, especially PM Surya Ghar, PM De-VINE, and PM KUSUM.
PM KUSUM provides solar-powered pumps to farmers, while PM Surya Ghar Yojana has designed to install solar grids in private and public establishments, and through the PM De-VINE scheme solar microgrids are installed for distant and obscure villages where conventional power supply is expensive.
The state government had earlier set a target of installing solar grids in all govt offices, including directorates, district headquarters complexes, and big institutions, across the state.
