Guwahati: A Hindi short film ‘Dhyaan’, featuring an Assamese cast and crew, will be screened at the India Inclusion Summit (IIS) in Bangalore on November 16.
Set against the backdrop of Assam’s stunning landscapes, the film sheds light on the often-overlooked issue of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) — a common learning challenge found in children. The film aims to create awareness among parents, teachers as well as students about ADHD.
The short film features Udayan Duarah, Snigdha Gogoi, and Kaustav Bharadwaj (child artiste) in the lead roles.
Late actor Spandan Borthakur, Maniraj Borthakur, Nirju Baruah, Happy Phukan, Taysha Bordoloi (child artiste) Manasvi Sirpal (child artiste), Jyotsna Neog and Mirza Arif Hazarika have acted in supporting roles.
National Award-winning director Hansal Mehta and writer-comedian Rajib Nema Indori will be among the celebrity guests at the event.
The Indian Inclusion Summit is India’s most prestigious and largest event organized for people with life challenges and special needs to promote inclusivity in society.
Directed by Mirza Arif Hazarika and written and produced by Jyotsna Neog, “Dhyaan” has already gained recognition, securing the 2nd Runner-Up title in the ‘Let’s Include’ category at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival (BISFF) 2024.
‘Let’s Include’ is a newly launched category, which stands for inclusivity and promotes films based on people with physical and mental challenges or disorders.
Writer and producer Jyotsna Neog believes it’s crucial to raise awareness about learning challenges like ADHD to prevent bullying of affected children.
The 29-minute film was also adjudged Best Short Film at the Tagore International Film Festival 2024 and child artiste Kaustav Bharadwaj and director Mirza Arif Hazarika were also conferred the titles of Best Actor and Best Director respectively.
Besides, Dhyaan was selected as a finalist (second in merit) at the Korea International Short Film Festival 2024.
