Itanagar: The Indian Army’s motorcycle expedition team marked the 62nd anniversary of Walong Day by successfully completing a challenging three-day journey, covering 550 kilometers across the scenic and rugged terrain of eastern Arunachal Pradesh.
The expedition culminated at the Walong War Memorial on Sunday, where riders paid tribute to the courage and sacrifices of the soldiers who fought in the 1962 Battle of Walong against Chinese forces.
The expedition, which commenced on November 9 from Dibang Valley, involved 20 riders from the Indian Army and local adventure enthusiasts.
They traversed the scenic route through Roing, Tezu, the vibrant village of Hayuliang, and finally concluded their journey at Walong.
The expedition proved to be a challenging endeavor as participants navigated rugged mountainous trails and endured varying weather conditions, embodying the resilience of the soldiers who once defended India’s northeastern frontier.
This initiative stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Battle of Walong and the Indian Army’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s heritage, values and connecting with the frontier villages of Arunachal Pradesh.
