Itanagar: To commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the Battle of Walong, the Indian Army has organized a motorcycle expedition from Arunachal Pradesh’s Mipi to Meshai.
The expedition, flagged off on November 8 by Major General VS Deshpande, GOC Dao Division, and Mopi Mihu, MLA of Anini, aims to honour the brave soldiers who fought for the nation in the 1962 Sino-Indian War.
The expedition, involving both military personnel and civilian enthusiasts from Arunachal Pradesh, will traverse the challenging terrain of the Mishmi Ranges and the serene beauty of the Dibang and Lohit valleys.
The route, tracing a historic path through the beautiful landscapes of Arunachal Pradesh, symbolizes the Indian Army’s commitment to fostering unity and promoting adventure tourism in border areas.
Each halt along the route will provide an opportunity for the riders to interact with local communities, highlighting the region’s strength, resilience, and solidarity, while also promoting national integration.
The closing ceremony at the Walong War Memorial on November 11 will feature a flag-in ceremony, where the motorcyclists will pay tribute to the brave soldiers of Walong and reaffirm the Indian Army’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders.
