Dirang: The highly-anticipated ‘Kameng Culture and Heritage Museum’ at Nyukmadung in Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district is set to open its doors to the public.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu will inaugurate the museum on October 23 in the presence of Kamlesh Paswan, Minister of State for Rural Development, and Lt Gen Gambhir Singh, General Officer Commanding, Gajraj Corps.
It will serve as a cultural symbol of peace, security, and national unity, fostering community integration.
Arunachal Pradesh, often called the “Land of Dawn Lit Mountains,” has deep-rooted historical ties to Indian civilization, as mentioned in ancient texts like the Kalika Purana and the Mahabharata.
It will feature a collection of historical artifacts, archaeological finds, and ethnographic exhibits that highlight the rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.
The museum, conceptualized by the Indian Army as part of Operation Sadbhavana and aligned with the Vibrant Village Programme, is a testament to the collaborative spirit and commitment to preserving the region’s cultural legacy.
The Kameng Cultural and Heritage Museum has been meticulously curated by the National Museum Institute, with professional guidance and aesthetic expertise. The museum also benefits from the generous donation of ancestral land and 343 traditional artifacts by the local community.
Visitors to the museum can explore the state-of-the-art movie hall, showcasing the cultural linkages between Arunachal Pradesh and Bharatvarsh. Additionally, a cafeteria and children’s park have been constructed for visitors.
