Kohima: Jentiren Jamir from Nagaland is set to make waves at the prestigious Femina Miss India 2024 beauty pageant.

Representing the vibrant state of Nagaland, the 23-year-old is eager to showcase her beauty, intelligence, and cultural heritage of the state at the grand finale of the 60th edition of the Femina Miss India 2024 to be held in Mumbai on October 16.

Jentiren, who is pursuing her master’s in sociology, was crowned the second runner-up at Miss Nagaland 2022. In the same year, she launched her “Beauty with a Purpose” project, focusing on the theme of “Kindness Seed.”

She completed her schooling at Jubilee Memorial School in Mokokchung. She went on to pursue higher secondary education at B Borooah College in Guwahati and earned her bachelor’s degree from Tetso College in Sovima, Chumoukedima.

She believes that to succeed, it’s essential to have unwavering faith in oneself.

Jentiren is deeply passionate about advocating for the less privileged and marginalized members of society. She aims to amplify their voices through various efforts, including direct support, behind-the-scenes work, and raising awareness initiatives.

“Growing up, I was surrounded by strong women, particularly my elder sister Imlibenla Wati Nienu, a former beauty queen who instilled in me the values of perseverance, humility, beauty with a purpose,” she added.

Winning the Femina Miss India Nagaland 2024 title was a significant milestone for her.

She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to represent her state and culture on such a prestigious platform.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to represent my state and culture on such a prestigious platform. This win is not just for me but for everyone who believed in me and supported me throughout this journey,” she said.

She will be the eighth candidate from Nagaland to represent the state at the Femina Miss India pageant since 1975.

Angelina Kevichusa, the first Naga girl to participate in the beauty contest in 1975, paved the way for Jamir and others by achieving the first runner-up title.
