Agartala: The Tripura government has planned to set up ‘Unity Mall’ in all 60 Assembly constituencies in the state to promote and market local products.
Laying the foundation stone of the PM-Unity Mall at Hapania in West Tripura district on Thursday, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said that such a shopping mall would catalyze growth and give a boost to the economy.
“Unity Mall is a dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM’s another dream project is the Light House (apartments), which is also almost complete. The unity mall developers have promised to complete the project within 27 months,” CM Saha said.
He urged the local MLA and residents to monitor the project closely and offer any necessary assistance.
He said the project aims to expand the reach of the local products to other states and highlight the unique offerings from various regions.
Rs 150 crore would be spent on the construction of the PM-Unity Mall at Hapania in West Tripura district, Saha stated.
For the sustainability of the mall and to generate economic growth, the government has decided to include everything required to set up a modern mall, he said.
He asserted that after the completion of the mall, the area would also be developed further.
“It is my dream to establish something unique in each of the 60 Assembly constituencies for development. Our handicraft artisans would also benefit from this project,” he said.
The Unity Mall in Hapania is being built on 4.18 acres of land and will include 45 stalls, 36 commercial stalls, and additional stalls representing the 8 districts of the state.
