Guwahati: In a horrifying incident, a promising female tennis player was apprehended by Dispur police on Friday evening for the alleged murder of her mother.
The accused is believed to have used a mortar pestle to strike her 40-year-old mother, Manju Devi, to death during a heated dispute at their residence in Purnima Mansion, located in the Guwahati‘s Chachal area.
The incident occurred around 7:30 pm while the girl’s father, Deep Chand Prasad, who is a tennis coach, was away for his coaching duties in the evening.
According to police, the mother and daughter had been involved in a heated altercation, which quickly escalated.
The girl is accused of using the mortar pestle to inflict fatal injuries on her mother.
After hearing screams and distressing noises from the apartment, neighbours contacted the police. On receiving the call, Dispur police responded swiftly, arriving at the scene and taking the accused into custody.
