Guwahati: The Met department on Sunday issued Yellow alert predicting thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds in Assam over the next 48 hours.
As per the forecast released by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), a cyclonic circulation is lying over east Assam and neighbouring states.
The Met office said thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty wind reaching speed up to 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Sunday and Monday.
Thunderstorm with lightning is likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, while Meghalaya is likely to receive heavy rains.
Two persons were killed in a hailstorm that lashed Tinsukia district on Saturday night.
