GUWAHATI: In a major operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Assam police on Saturday busted a fake Indian currency note (FICN) manufacturing racket in Guwahati’s Boragaon area.
Police apprehended one person in connection with the case during the operation led by Inspector Kapil Pathak.
According to police, acting on a tip-off, the STF team raided the residence of Abhinah Sarkar (28) in Debkota Nagar, Pachim Boragaon, and recovered a fake currency printing machine.
During the operation, the team has seized fake Indian currency notes of worth Rs 1,02,500.

Police also seized four ‘fake’ gold items of varying shapes and sizes gold weighing 2.86 kilograms and two fake Indian currency note manufacturing machines.
Besides, a mobile phone was also confiscated from Sarkar’s possession.
Further investigations are underway to identify others connected to the fake currency syndicate.
