SHILLONG: The construction work of the Shillong Ropeway project is likely to start in October this year.
Meghalaya Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Thursday said the state government will issue a new corrigendum for the ropeway project soon.
The ropeway will connect Lawsohtun to Shillong Peak.
President Droupadi Murmu laid the foundation stone for the Shillong Ropeway project on January 16 this year.
“The state government is taking initiatives to construct a world-class ropeway project in Shillong. The working season here begins only after the monsoon. The project will finally take off by early October. We expect to complete the project within two years,” Lyngdoh said.
The project, which was slated to begin in July this year, was postponed due to the monsoon season.
The Meghalaya Cabinet in September 2022 approved the construction of the first passenger ropeway project in the state.
